Behaviour Support Officer - Full-time, temporary to permanent from June 2026

This Behaviour Support Officer role offers a full-time, temporary to permanent opportunity within a structured and supportive school setting from June 2026. The Behaviour Support Officer will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, supporting pupils with social and emotional needs, and contributing to a calm and inclusive learning environment. This role is ideal for someone experienced in behaviour support who is looking for a long-term opportunity with progression to a permanent position.Duties as Behaviour Support Officer:
- Support pupils with behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
- Work with pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis to promote positive behaviour
- Implement behaviour support strategies in line with school policies
- Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times
- De-escalate challenging situations using calm, consistent approaches
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders
- Monitor behaviour incidents and contribute to behaviour tracking and reporting
- Build positive, professional relationships with pupils and staff
- Support the implementation of individual behaviour plans where required
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal Behaviour Support Officer:
- Experience working in a behaviour support, pastoral, or inclusion role
- Strong understanding of behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Calm, resilient, and consistent approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider support team
- Organised and able to maintain accurate records
- Willingness to start on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
