Clinical Educator - Paediatric Critical Care

Job summary
The post holder will support PCC in the implementation of the education, training and development strategy across the CSU for all staff groups.

The post holder will ensure the facilitation of planned education and training programmes for our expanding team to ensure a competent and confident nursing workforce, able to meet service needs. S/he will contribute to the improvement of the quality of care through staff education, support and development. This will be achieved by teaching and supporting colleagues, demonstration of effective leadership, role modelling and participation in audit and research.

In conjunction with the PCC, EDP and Matron the post holder will ensure that the workforce is fit for purpose in terms of knowledge, skills and attitude.

This is an exciting opportunity for a RN (Child)/RSCN Nurse to apply for a full time role as a Band 6 Clinical Educator in Paediatric Critical Care.

You should be an experienced Paediatric Nurse with significant experience at Band 5 or above, have proven evidence of supporting learners in practice and be competent in the delivery of education and training.

The post holder will work within the RMCH PCC Education team and will provide high quality educational support to our registered and non-registered workforce including our new starters.

You will be committed to improving quality of care and the patient experience. The role is challenging and interesting with the opportunity to expand and develop your own knowledge and skills within a supportive team.

What is a DBS Check?

• Standard DBS : Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.

The Costs for a DBS
At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.

Qualifications
Essential

• Registered Nurse (Child) / RSCN
• Advanced Care of Critically Ill Child Module/ Paediatric Critical Care Qualification or working towards
• Evidence of recent academic study
• Qualified in specialty

Desirable

• NVQ Assessor or verifier
• Working towards PGCE
• Teaching/assessing qualification

Experience
Essential

• Significant experience at Band 5 within Paediatric Critical Care, including rotation between PICU and PHDU
• Band 5 pack completed to Level 5
• Portfolio of evidence demonstrating clinical achievements
• Proven clinical skills
• Evidence of clinical teaching relevant to current role
• Evidence of good organisational and planning skills
• Recent evidence of continuing professional and personal development
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
