Arthur is delighted to be supporting a leading insurer is seeking a Portfolio Manager to join a newly established portfolio management function at the heart of underwriting strategy and performance.
This is a unique opportunity to influence underwriting decision-making through portfolio analytics, advanced pricing techniques, segmentation analysis, and performance monitoring. Working closely with underwriting leadership, actuarial, and data teams, you will help shape portfolio strategy and drive profitable growth across a diverse insurance portfolio.
As a key member of the portfolio management team, you will combine pricing expertise with commercial insight to identify opportunities, assess portfolio performance, and support strategic decision-making. You will play a leading role in pricing model calibration, portfolio optimisation, and the development of analytical tools that empower underwriting teams to make informed decisions.
The role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence business performance across multiple product lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver portfolio analysis and insights that support underwriting strategy and profitability.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identifying trends, opportunities, and areas requiring intervention.
- Lead pricing model calibration and ongoing model enhancement across multiple classes of business.
- Develop analytical tools, dashboards, and management information to support active portfolio management.
- Produce actionable recommendations for underwriting leadership teams.
- Contribute to business planning, forecasting, and performance review processes.
- Partner with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and operations teams to drive data-led decision making.
- Support the development of portfolio management capabilities and best practices across the business.
Requirements
- Strong actuarial and technical pricing experience within the general insurance market.
- Experience developing, maintaining, and calibrating pricing models.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work with large, complex datasets.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience translating complex analysis into commercial recommendations.
- Exposure to portfolio management, performance analytics, or underwriting strategy.
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to influence senior decision-makers.
