Fabric Operative

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Fabric Operative to join our Edinburgh school’s account.

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week.

We’re looking for a skilled Fabric Operative to join our Edinburgh Schools account (5 schools in total), supporting the delivery of high‑quality Hard FM services across our estate.

A company van will be included (for business use only). A full UK driving licence is required for the role.

You’ll bring strong fabric and joinery skills, along with solid technical knowledge of building services systems. This is a hands‑on role where your expertise in Fabric/Hard FM will help keep our school environments safe, compliant, and well‑maintained.

What you will do:

General building fabric maintenance and repair to include:
Carry out scheduled building fabric PPM.
Day to day reactive joinery/fabric repairs raised on our Helpdesk.
Fire door maintenance and repair/replacement.
General joinery work.
Suspended ceiling repair and replacement.
Minor wall filling and painting repairs

What you will bring:

Fabric/joinery-based skills
Strong technical skills in Hard/Fabric FM, with working knowledge of building services systems.
Excellent planning and organisational skills for programming and managing works and services.
Excellent communication skills – Written and oral.
Basic IT skills
Full UK driving licence required
Time served joiner or equivalent experience
Required technical skills within joinery/carpentry
Previous FM maintenance industry experience desirable
A basic knowledge of other trades plumbing, plastering, and painting would be an advantage
Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract
