This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to thrive both academically and personally in a specialist educational setting. About the School The school provides specialist education for pupils with a diverse range of additional needs. Staff work collaboratively to create a safe, structured and nurturing environment where every pupil is encouraged to develop confidence, independence and essential life skills. The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils both in and out of the classroom. Your responsibilities will include: Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning programmes.
Encouraging communication, independence and social development.
Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
Helping pupils access learning through adapted resources and activities.
Building trusting relationships that enable pupils to feel safe, valued and confident.
The Pupils You Will Support You will be working with children and young people with a variety of additional needs, which may include: Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Pupils with sensory processing differences
Pupils with complex communication needs, including those who use visual supports or alternative communication methods
Pupils who may display behaviours that challenge as a form of communication Every pupil has an individual Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and you'll receive support from experienced colleagues to help meet their unique needs. About You We're looking for someone who: Has experience working with children, young people or adults with SEND (desirable but not essential).
Is patient, empathetic and resilient.
Can remain calm in challenging situations.
Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Is passionate about supporting children to achieve their potential.
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
