As a School Crossing Patrol Officer, you'll be a familiar and trusted presence outside local schools, helping children, parents and other pedestrians cross the road safely. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising school crossings and ensuring they operate safely and effectively.
- Helping children, families and members of the public cross roads safely.
- Following road safety procedures and Highway Code guidance.
- Providing a welcoming, professional and customer-focused service.
- Being a positive and reassuring presence within the local community.
We're looking for someone who is dependable, approachable and enjoys interacting with people of all ages. You will:
- Be punctual, reliable and committed.
- Enjoy working independently and using your own initiative.
- Be confident communicating with children, parents and the wider public.
- Be comfortable working outdoors throughout the year and in all weather conditions.
- Be able to stand roadside for periods of time and maintain good awareness of road safety.
You don't need previous experience as a School Crossing Patrol Officer. We'll provide the training and support you need to succeed. We're particularly interested in hearing from people who have:
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Good road awareness and common sense.
- The ability to supervise children and adults safely.
- A commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- A genuine desire to help others and contribute to their local community.
