Northern Ireland Housing Executive - Roofer - Newtownabbey

About the role:

• £14.35 per hour
• Cloughfern Avenue, Newtownabbey (may be asked to work at other depots if required)
• 37 hours per week, Monday -Thursday 8.30am - 4.30pm & Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm
• The successful applicant may also be required to provide an emergency call out service, at night and weekends, on a rota basis
• Holidays: 35 days (pro rata) 
• Temporary, ongoing

What you'll be doing in this role:

• Carry out all roofing work associated with the maintenance and refurbishment of Housing Executive stock / buildings
• Removing old roof coverings and replace with all styles of roof
• Repairing and replacing lead work to roofs
• Renewing or rebedding hip and roof tiles
• Renewing or rebedding chimney pots
• Repairing mineral felt and asphalt flat roof covering
• Correctly replacing slates or tiles in isolated patches 
• Surveying and correctly identifying faults to pitched and flat roofs
• Replacing/repairing/cleaning guttering and fascia

Criteria: 

• Have successfully completed an apprenticeship in Roofing (either time served or skills based).
• Have a minimum of 2 year’s post apprenticeship roofing experience working on improvement or maintenance of properties.
• Be competent and willing to carry out a range of multi-skilled tasks and maintenance work outside of trade without reliance on other trades (training may be provided for required works outside of trade as appropriate to business needs)
• A full current driving licence - a form of transport will be provided to allow the post holder to carry out their duties.
• As part of the reference checking and vetting process for this position you will be requested to undertake a Basic AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position.
