Luxury Cruise Line - Musical Director required

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct and supervise all musical activities on board including without limitation

• Manage the scheduling and deployment of all resident musicians whilst considering the specific needs of the programme

• Co-ordinate setlists throughout each cruise, adjusting as needed for special events, theme nights and guest preference where appropriate

• Rehearsals and shows for all Guest Acts

• Music in lounges and on decks, for dancing, parties or background music

• Music for Cocktail parties and afternoon tea

• Supervise all musicians on board, and oversee their work schedules

• Assist in staff training, monitoring, development and motivation, including performance evaluation

• Inform the Cruise Director and ACD about musician performance

• Deal with or report maintenance and passenger issues to the ACD and complete Cruise Reports

• Demonstrate the Saga Values.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES:

• Attends passenger functions as required by Head of Department.

• Partake in inspections, trainings and meetings as required by Head of Department.

• Ensures that the set standards are kept, and staff members work according to their respective job descriptions.

• Demonstrate the Saga Values.

• Provide Exceptional Experiences every day for Guests and Colleagues

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Professional level of musical skills in a variety of genres, high level of sight-reading ability

• Ability to lead and rehearse musicians, providing artistic direction and ensuring high-quality performances

• Proven management and people skills along with conflict resolution, counselling, mediating and motivational skills

• Exceptional organizational skills to manage scheduling, setlists, and rehearsal planning.

• All certificates as required by the STCW code for this position.

• Good command of the English Language
