Package Manager

Experienced in delivering complex electrical engineering solutions within highly regulated environments?

Our Client has a requirement for a Package Manager, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Abingdon.

Role Purpose

  • Lead the delivery of electrical engineering activities supporting decommissioning projects through discovery, pre-construction, and construction phases.
  • Develop safe, compliant, and efficient electrical decommissioning solutions in line with regulatory and project requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise in the planning, design, implementation, and execution of HV and LV electrical system decommissioning.
  • Support stakeholder engagement, interface management, and continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practice application.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Ensure development, implementation, and compliance with technical processes and operating procedures for electrical decommissioning.
  • Develop detailed plans and schedules for electrical system decommissioning activities.
  • Conduct site surveys and assessments to identify electrical assets requiring isolation, removal, or modification.
  • Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimise electrical hazards.
  • Manage stakeholder and supplier relationships, defining requirements and coordinating interfaces.
  • Provide expert technical guidance to overcome engineering and delivery challenges.
  • Supervise disconnection, removal, disposal, and decommissioning of electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, panels, wiring, and generators.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation including electrical drawings, isolation registers, method statements, risk assessments, and reports.
  • Conduct inspections and testing to verify safe decommissioning and operational integrity of remaining systems.
  • Ensure compliance with waste management requirements, including recycling and disposal of hazardous electrical materials.
  • Support construction planning, readiness reviews, and project delivery activities.
  • Present engineering solutions and deliverables to project stakeholders and review panels.
  • Mentor engineers and technical personnel, supporting knowledge transfer and capability development.
  • Provide technical support and advice to wider project teams as required.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline (BSc/MSc or equivalent).
  • Chartered Engineer status or significant relevant industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of UK engineering standards, compliance requirements, and design codes including BS 7671.
  • Familiarity with CDM Regulations and Health & Safety at Work legislation.
  • Extensive experience delivering electrical engineering solutions within complex projects or programmes.
  • Proven experience in decommissioning, demolition, waste management, or facility decommissioning environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, emergency power systems, control systems, and associated infrastructure.
  • Experience applying electrical isolation procedures, LOTO requirements, and risk mitigation techniques.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard engineering and information management systems.
  • Demonstrable experience supervising personnel and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and technical report writing skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and provide technical leadership.
  • Experience working within nuclear environments would be advantageous.
  • Experience using electrical design software, preferably SolidWorks, would be desirable.
