Project Management and Governance Manager

Hours : 35 hours per week.

Contract type: Permanent

Location: Hybrid. You will spend part of your week at home, and part of your week in one of our offices.

What you’ll do

As a Project Management and Governance Manager in the Glasgow Life Events team, you’ll be a part of an established team, reporting to the Senior Events Manager.

The purpose of the role is to lead the day-to-day financial management of the citywide events subvention process in relation to the provision of event funding. In addition, you will have responsibility for the management of a strong governance framework including robust financial management, administration and corporate reporting.

The role provides essential oversight of governance, compliance, financial processes, and administrative systems, supporting the Head of Events, Senior Events Manager and wider team to operate efficiently and in line with city and Glasgow Life policies and procedures.

  • Work in close collaboration with the Head of Events and Senior Events Manager to manage existing governance frameworks, policies, and procedures that support the city-wide events subvention process and the Glasgow Events Board.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day financial administration of key spreadsheets that are required for ongoing governance and monitoring of subvention funds including reconciliations, projections and future forecasts ensuring accurate and timely information is produced for decision making and compliance.
  • Coordinate internal audit activity, compliance and risk management reporting relating to events.
  • Provide project management and governance advice and guidance to wider events team ensuring consistent application of agreed processes and procedures, provide high‑quality analysis, briefings, and reports to support strategic planning and decision‑making including management of corporate reporting and event evaluation.
  • Work with events team to maintain an ongoing system of knowledge transfer, lessons learned and information management to support continuous improvement

We’re looking for:

  • Experience of successful project delivery within a major sports or cultural events environment.
  • Proven project and budget management experience - able to initiate and lead the overall development and ongoing project management of a number of events/ projects simultaneously
  • Experience with project governance methodologies and their application in an Event environment including experience of using project governance and management tools and software.
  • Experience and ability to communicate and work in partnership with multiple stakeholders to understand expectations and be able to deliver against agreed service levels.
  • Excellent people and communication skills.
