Resilient Year 6 SEN Teacher - Training Provided -...
Looking for a new role in January? An Outstanding Primary school is looking for a Year 6 Teacher for their deaf provision.
Role: Year 6 Teacher for the deaf provision
Training provided as a Teacher of the deaf
Full-time
Start Date: January 2025
Salary: Dependent on experience plus SEN Allowance
Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): In the UK, SEN teachers need to have QTS, which is obtained after completing an Initial Teacher Training (ITT) course such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or a Bachelor of Education (BEd).
- Degree: A degree is essential, usually in education or a related subject. Some teachers may have a degree in a specific subject followed by a PGCE.
- Special Educational Needs Qualification (desirable): Some teachers may have additional qualifications specific to SEN, such as a National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO), which is mandatory for SEN Coordinators (SENCOs) but useful for SEN teachers as well.
Experience:
- Teaching Experience: Year 6 SEN teachers typically need previous experience in teaching at the primary school level. Some schools may expect experience specifically in Key Stage 2 (KS2).
- Experience with SEN Students: Direct experience working with children with special needs, either through placements, teaching, or volunteering, is often required. Experience with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) is particularly valuable.
