Key Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant:
- Provide individualised support to students with diverse learning needs, adapting your approach to ensure their academic, social, and emotional success
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement tailored strategies that address each student's unique requirements
- Facilitate small-group activities and deliver one-on-one interventions to help students overcome challenges and achieve their goals
- Monitor student progress, maintain detailed records, and communicate regularly with parents and carers to ensure a holistic approach to student development
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials, resources, and the general organisation of the classroom environment
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about the latest teaching methodologies and best practices in the field of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- Contribute to the creation of an inclusive, welcoming, and nurturing learning environment for all students
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience working with students with diverse learning needs, such as those with physical, cognitive, or behavioural challenges
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances
- Proficiency in using technology, including educational software and assistive technologies, to support student learning
- A genuine passion for education and a commitment to promoting the well-being and academic success of all students
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Creativity and problem-solving skills to develop innovative strategies that address individual student needs
