Marketing Content and Graphic Designer Apprentice

Summary

As a member of the marketing team you will have responsibility for the design of product and company marketing materials, customer artworks, website and social media content, including videos.

Wage

£15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

• Create a variety of content whilst working within the company’s visual aesthetic (using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) This content primarily involves: graphics/images to be used with social media posts; text content to be used on the company website; video content – product presentations, short social media videos,  product launch videos; email campaigns
• Create and develop creative ideas for social media content in response to the brief provided, suitable for the industry
• Analyse social media performance and identify successful campaigns
• Engage with followers on social media
• Learn about and understand the industry that the company is involved in, to create suitable marketing content about the products the company supplies.
• Create cut files for vehicle graphics and livery (large format)
• Create print files for logos, banners and signage (large format)
• Re-drawing and creating logos
• Interpret customer briefs and create artwork to meet these briefs
• Design of website graphics using industry standard software
• Design of external signage.
• Collecting data, content and images and creating written copy and product imagery for use on the website, suited to our audiences.
• Create product presentation videos for use on social media and the website. Plan the content of the video, then create and capture visual and audio content for use in the videos.
• Create social media posts aimed at increasing engagement, building our audiences and increasing traffic to the company website (suited to our audiences).
• Design and distribute company marketing emails using an industry known email marketing system.
• Manage the contact data for email marketing – segmenting lists properly and keeping them up to date.
• Create advertisements for print when required.
• Design of company and product publicity
• Design exhibition stands, open day and roadshow graphics
• Photography of new product images 
• Internal décor (trade counter/demonstration/meeting rooms)
• Any other duties as requested by the Design and Marketing Coordinator

What you'll learn

• Develop or interpret briefs for external or internal stakeholders and measure delivery in-line with the specification and agreed timelines
• Plan and coordinate a marketing activity using marketing tactics to acquire and retain one or more customer segments using available resources.
• Contribute to the generation of innovative and creative approaches across video, images, and other formats, both online and offline, to support campaign development.
• Use research/survey software to gather audience insight and/or evaluation to support the project.
• Use copywriting techniques to write persuasive text/copy to meet a communications objective ensuring it is in-line with organisational brand guidelines.
• Build and implement multi-channel campaigns across a variety of platforms, either offline or digital media.
• Proofread marketing copy ensuring it is accurate, persuasive and is on brand.
• Use software to design and create marketing assets to meet the technical specification.
• Contribute to the research of external suppliers to support recommendations and procurement of marketing goods and services.
• Organise offline and digital assets ensuring they are co-ordinated and legally compliant.
• Use a content management system to publish text, images, and video/animated content.
• Create and maintain spreadsheets to support marketing activities such as project/budget planning and organisation of marketing assets.
• Use technology and software packages to support day to day activities, e.g., stakeholder communications, development of briefs, data analysis, report writing, presentations and project management.
• Identify and use data and technologies to achieve marketing objectives.
• Monitor and amend campaigns to meet budget requirements including time and monetary costs.
• Review campaigns regularly to ensure effectiveness, to optimise the results.
• Measure and evaluate campaign delivery to identify areas for improvement.
• Use data analysis tools to record, interpret and analyse customer or campaign data.

Training schedule

As part of your apprenticeship, and dependent on your prior attainment and age, you may be required to complete English and
maths Functional Skills, which is an integral part of your apprenticeship. Upon successful completion you will be awarded additional certificates of recognition for these qualifications.
