This is an excellent opportunity for you to join the industry during a period of unprecedented growth. You will play a key role in shaping the future of the high voltage electrical transmission network across the north of Scotland and contribute to the transition to Net Zero.

The Development Project Manager will manage the Development phase of large capital projects in the network transmission business involving complex AC substations, Overhead Lines, HVDC Converter stations and cabling both onshore and offshore.

The remit of Development projects includes community consultation and engagement, site and route selection, land access and the planning and consenting processes both in the marine and terrestrial environments.

You will

  • Manage the selection of suitable project sites and overhead line or cable route selection options including marine cable routes and land falls if applicable. Lead the selection and coordination of key suppliers to undertake and perform the required surveys and studies to inform initial designs. Lead and manage the projects through the planning and consenting process ensuring the project meets the requirements of the Regulator, Local Authorities and Statutory bodies.
  • Provide effective management of all key internal and external interfaces across the various project workstreams in the development phase to ensure a successful handover to the project delivery teams including supply chain partners, environmental and consenting, land acquisition, planning and regulatory interfaces.
  • Support and guide multi discipline project teams involving both staff and external contractors, using robust project management systems, tools and techniques to produce key project deliverables up to the project construction phase.
  • Provide effective Safety and Environmental leadership and mentorship to the project, ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all personnel are managed and the impact of the project to the environment is minimised.

You have

  • A degree qualification, with membership of a recognised professional body and a recognised project management qualification is desirable.
  • Experience supporting the early development phase of large capital projects, ideally within electricity generation or transmission, including involvement in consenting and regulatory approvals in the onshore and offshore environments.

  • A solid understanding of project management systems, risk management and governance for large capital projects, with awareness of CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels, along with a proactive approach to health and safety, particularly at the design stage.
