Cygnet Hospital Colchester is a 59 bed service providing a range of intensive support and rehabilitation services for men with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders or mental health needs.

We are currently recruiting for a Driver ideally with previous healthcare experience to facilitate the patient transport service needs of the hospital.

You will be working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10:00hrs – 16:00hrs however flexibility will be required, as start and finish times may vary and there will be a requirement to work some weekends and Bank Holidays as needed to meet the needs of the service.

Please note: For Insurance purposes, applicants must be 21 years of age or over and have held a full UK driving license for at least 2 years.

You’re day-to-day...

• Provide transport for escort visits for both service users & staff

• You will be responsible for ensuring the vehicles used are refueled and to check the vehicles before going out and after return, keeping them clean inside and out and reporting any faults/damage.

• As a driver you will need to be able to and comfortable to drive an 8 or 9 seater minibus. Both Manual and automatic.

• Comply with health & safety policies & Cygnet protocols.

The post holder will need to demonstrate each of the following

• Confident, outgoing personality

• Hold a valid full UK driving license with no more than 3 points

• Health & safety experience & knowledge

• Previous experience of working in a healthcare setting (desirable).

• Experience of driving in different environments including cities and motorways, both daytime and evenings.

• Able to navigate around an area using Sat Nav or maps

• Excellent organisation skills, able to plan and keep to a timed schedule

• Physically fit for getting in and out of vehicles and loading and unloading

• Willing to work unsupervised

• Good customer service skills

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

• To be able to liaise with both patients, staff and third parties.
