Key Responsibilities
As a Family Solicitor, your role will involve:
Handling a broad range of Family Law matters, including separation, divorce, financial settlements, and children’s issues
Managing domestic abuse and domestic violence cases, including injunctions and associated family law matters
Overseeing TOLATA claims
Drafting key legal documents such as Cohabitation Agreements and Prenuptial Agreements
Managing financial aspects of your cases, including cash flow control and adherence to billing procedures
Supporting colleagues by assisting with their caseloads, particularly during times of absence (e.g., sick leave or holidays)
Minimizing risk by ensuring all files are managed in line with the firm's risk and file management policies
Following the firm’s office procedures and systems, and participating in relevant training
Supervising fee-earning work completed by colleagues as needed
Contributing to the ongoing development and success of the Family Law department
Requirements
- A qualification as a Solicitor, Legal Executive, or equivalent
- Extensive experience in Family Law, covering all areas of family law, including divorce, finances, children’s issues, and domestic abuse
- Ideally, you will have 2+ years of PQE, though we welcome applications from candidates with varying levels of experience
- Ability to manage your own caseload with or without support staff
- Proficiency in using the firm’s practice and case management system
- Willingness to contribute to the marketing and growth of the Family Law department
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to meet billing targets and manage client accounts
- Excellent IT, written, and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility and dependability to meet the firm’s needs, including occasional overtime and weekend work
