Community Support Worker

£12.71 - £13.12 per hour
Part-time

Some jobs pay the bills. This one shapes a childhood.

Join Positive Futures as a Community Support Worker and help children and young people with a learning disability, acquired brain injury or autism to live the life they want. You don't need formal qualifications or experience for this role, just kindness, patience, and a sense of fun.

You'll get to know the child or young person you're supporting properly: what makes them laugh, what they're working towards, and how best to help them get there. You'll support them to access social, leisure and community activities in their local area, and help them build the independence and confidence to speak up for themselves.

  • A proper start: Receive a full, paid induction before you're expected to hit the ground running, and join a dedicated team who'll support you every step of the way.
  • Real relationships, real impact: Spend genuine time getting to know the person you're supporting, and act as a strong role model for other staff along the way.
  • No experience required, just the right qualities: If you're kind, patient, and reliable, we'll teach you the rest.

This role requires a full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car insured for business purposes, so you can support the people we work with to get out and about in their community.

Two positions available:

  • Community Support Worker - Part time - 20 hours per week - Up to £13.12 per hour
  • Relief Community Support Worker - As and When - £12.71 per hour

If you're looking for work that means something, and you've got the patience and warmth this role needs, we'd love to hear from you.

About The Role

Every day looks a little different, because every child and young person you support is different too.

As a Community Support Worker, you'll form a positive relationship with the child or young person you support, always keeping their safety and wellbeing at the centre of what you do. You'll help them access social, leisure and community-based activities, and support them to build independence at home and in the community, in line with their own person-centred plan.

You'll work closely with your team to share what you learn about the person you're supporting, so everyone around them is working from the same understanding. You'll keep accurate records as you go (learning logs, communication charts, incident reports), and you'll flag any risks or concerns promptly, in line with our safeguarding and risk management policies.

Some of the people we support have direct support hours funded through Self-Directed Support or family direct payment schemes, so you might work with individuals one-to-one or as part of a small group, always focused on giving them choice and control over their own lives.

If you can bring warmth, reliability and genuine curiosity about the people you're working with, this is a role where that really counts.

Required Criteria

  • Personal or work experience of providing care or support for someone
  • Hold a Full, Valid UK/EU/EEA Drivers Licence and have access to a car insured for business purposes (or willing to amend insurance) to transport the people we support and fulfil the demands of the role.
