Hoist & Stairlift Installation Engineer

Field-Based (South East & West Sussex)

Must be within commuting distance of Eastbourne or surrounding areas

Full-Time | £28,000 – £32,000 per annum + overtime + call-out earnings

Join a respected, growing mobility specialist making a real difference every day

We’re working with a well-established Sussex-based mobility company that installs, services, and maintains stairlifts, overhead hoists, and essential mobility equipment across the South East and West Sussex.

They are now looking for a skilled and motivated Hoist & Stairlift Installation Engineer to join their expanding engineering team. This is a hands-on, field-based role where your technical expertise directly improves independence, safety, and quality of life for customers in their own homes.

If you enjoy practical engineering work, solving problems on-site, and working independently in a trusted role—this could be an excellent fit.

What you’ll be doing

• Installing, servicing, and maintaining stairlifts and overhead hoist systems in domestic environments
• Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults efficiently and safely
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and responding to reactive service calls
• Managing your own field-based workload and daily schedule across the region
• Taking part in a structured 1 in 4 emergency call-out rota (with additional earning potential)
• Completing clear and accurate service records, reports, and compliance documentation
• Ensuring all work meets strict health & safety standards and manufacturer guidelines
• Delivering a professional, respectful, customer-focused service in private homes

What we’re looking for

Essential

• Previous hands-on experience with stairlift installation and servicing
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
• Confident communication and strong customer service approach
• Excellent practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Full UK driving licence (clean preferred)
• Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota
• DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)

Desirable

• Experience with ceiling track hoists or broader mobility equipment
• Knowledge of LOLER regulations or lifting equipment standards
• Electrical qualifications (e.g. 18th Edition, NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent)
• Background in healthcare, assisted living, or domestic engineering environments
• Manual handling training or certification

What’s in it for you

• Company van, tools, and mobile phone provided
• Manufacturer and in-house training to support ongoing development
• Strong opportunity for overtime and additional earnings through call-outs
• Long-term, stable role within a supportive and growing business
• Work that is varied, meaningful, and technically engaging
• Autonomy to manage your own daily schedule in the field

Why join?

This is a role where your engineering skills genuinely matter. You’ll be working independently, trusted to manage your own workload, and supported by a team that values professionalism, reliability, and quality workmanship.

You’ll also be part of a sector that makes a real difference—helping people remain safe and independent in their own homes.
