The Opportunity We are recruiting for a proactive Environmental Advisor to join a major infrastructure project for an initial 10–12 month contract. This is a hands-on, site-based role where you'll work closely with the construction team, ensuring environmental compliance while driving actions forward For the first six months, the expectation is to be on site five days per week, with the potential for hybrid working (one day from home) thereafter, depending on project requirements. Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day environmental support to the construction delivery team.Lead environmental compliance across all site activities.Manage contaminated land issues, including remediation and disposal requirements.Coordinate asbestos management, including removal processes and compliance.Prepare and submit documentation to the relevant environmental authorities for contaminated material removal and validation of clean topsoil replacement.Manage environmental permits and licences, including: Waste exemptions and disposal licencesWater discharge licencesFiltration system approvalsDewatering permitsWell point licensing Ensure all waste documentation is completed accurately, including Waste Transfer Notes and Duty of Care documentation.Liaise with regulators, clients and subcontractors to resolve environmental issues quickly.Support audits, inspections and environmental reporting.Provide practical environmental advice to site teams and ensure environmental risks are managed effectively. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who naturally takes ownership and is comfortable driving actions through to completion. This role would suit someone who doesn't wait to be asked but instead proactively engages with the client, regulators and construction teams to obtain answers, resolve issues and keep the project moving. You will have experience with: Environmental management on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.Contaminated land and remediation.Asbestos management.Environmental permitting and licensing.Waste management and disposal compliance.Water management, dewatering and discharge consents.Environmental legislation and regulatory compliance.Working collaboratively with construction delivery teams. Excellent organisation and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple environmental workstreams simultaneously.
