Residential Support Worker
Salary: £28,100 per annum (£22,783 pro-rata) plus an opportunity to earn an additional £2,600 per annum based on an average of 1 sleep-ins per week
Location: Barry, Vale of Glamorgan
Contract/Hours: Permanent, Part-time – 30 hours per week

About the Service
This is a fun and welcoming service and you will be joining a committed and ambitious team, led by a manager who really wants to see you develop and reach your potential!
Our Vale of Glamorgan Short Breaks Project in Barry provides residential short breaks, community outreach services and Domiciliary Care for the most vulnerable disabled children and young people aged from 6 to 18 years in the Barry, Penarth and Sully. The service is centrally located with great public transport links all around, only a 5 minute walk from Cadoxton train station!
About the role
Qualified or currently working towards a level 3 in Health and Social Care, within this Shift Leading Residential Support Worker role, you’ll ensure high standards of care and personalised support for the children and young people we support.
This will include supporting in the absence of the Registered Manager or Team Leader, supervisions of staff, case managing and assisting in the development of the service.
How you’ll create brighter futures
Lead shifts with the primary aim of the provision of a high-quality service.
Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.
Supervise and guide staff as required, in accordance with Action for Children policies and procedures.
Let’s talk about you
- Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care children and young people (or recognised equivalent) or currently working towards .
Experience of shift leading a team of support workers
- Flexibility to work a variety of shift patterns as agreed via the rolling rota.
- Experience and training in safeguarding
- Driving License for transportation of young person from and to the service (desirable)
