Senior Clinical Fellow in Gynaecology

Job summary
The appointment is to commence in October 2026 for a fixed term period of 12 months due to time limited funding. The successful candidate should be at a training level of ST5-ST8 in obstetrics and gynaecology and hold a National Training Number. The post holder will apply for an Out-of-Programme for Research (OOPR) in order to undertake the post. This is not recognised as a 'training post' and does not award a National Training Number. Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is needed, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK, sponsorship will be required.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work closely with the consultants and the clinical teams and have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience and training whilst working in a busy tertiary referral centre. The doctor will have an academic supervisor who will support the research component, and an educational supervisor to support clinical components of the post and assist in meeting the individual's training and career goals including appraisal.

The successful trainee should be at a training level of ST5+ in obstetrics and gynaecology, and is expected to take on responsibilities associated with this role. The clinical fellow will need to respect the roles of others within the MDT and be able to communicate with them appropriately.

Qualifications
Essential

• Registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of application.
• Medical degree
• MRCOG part 1

Desirable

• MRCOG part 2 and 3

Clinical experience
Essential

• Demonstrates experience in Urogynaecology
• ST5-ST8 Level of training or equivalent in obstetrics and gynaecology.
• Ability to undertake gynaecology outpatient clinics
• Ability to support on the on-call rota

Desirable

• Presentation at gynaecology meetings
• Publications in gynaecology
• Subspeciality experience
• Evidence of participation in research

Teaching and training
Essential

• Experience of teaching medical students and resident doctors

Research
Essential

• Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate
• Understanding of research methods, and statistics

Desirable

• Publications in Peer reviewed journals.

Continuous Professional Development

• Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
