This is an exciting opportunity for a clinical/neuropsychologist to be part of a highly specialist multidisciplinary team providing care as part of the West of Scotland Major Trauma “Saving life’s giving life’s back” development aimed at changing trauma care for the better locally, regionally and nationally .
The Clinical/Neuropsychologist will be a key member of the major trauma rehabilitation team and will take a lead in the development of the psychological approach of the team for patients with major trauma.
Based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital the post holder will support the work of the multidisciplinary team working in acute major trauma ward and support transition and implementation of patient care into rehabilitation services. As part of the wider core team of medical, nursing and AHP staff the post holder will provide highly specialist clinical/neuropsychology services to patients admitted to hospital under the major trauma remit, a nd will work in partnership with patients and their families to assess, formulate and develop individual intervention plans.
The post holder will provide psychological care for patients from point of acute admission through to rehabilitation then the community. They will play a key role in advising staff on psychological management of patients. They will work with both patients and their families. The psychologist will contribute to developing the major trauma team approach to psychological care.
The psychologist will be part of the wider regional neuropsychology service who provide acute and rehabilitation to patients with neurological disorders in NHS GGC and Regional services. The Neuropsychology service has close links with University of Glasgow and are active participants in CPD and research is encouraged.
Owning to the high prevalence of neuro-trauma in the Major Trauma population the post holder must have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and be registered with the HCPC. Advanced knowledge of neuropsychological assessment tools and their interpretation would be desirable. Experience of working in a neuropsychology/rehabilitation service, either in qualified experience or as part of the specialist placement in the DClinPsy degree, would be an advantage. The successful applicant will be organised, flexible regarding roles and tasks, and respond to the changing needs of the service.
