We support families across a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families, staff and volunteers to use. Every year we need to raise £6.7m to keep our doors open and only around 17% of our income comes from government sources, the rest must be raised through fundraising activity. Details

- Be accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions
- Deliver high-quality, holistic and evidence-based nursing care, acting as a named nurse where appropriate
- Provide clinical leadership within the care team, supporting and supervising Nursing Associates, students and support staff
- Deliver child-focused, family-centred palliative and end of life care, ensuring care is responsive to individual needs
- Work flexibly across hospice and community settings, leading and coordinating care in the most appropriate environment

- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, taking responsibility for clinical decision-making and ensuring care is evidence-based and outcomes-focused
- Coordinate and lead the delivery of care for children with complex, dynamic and technology-dependent needs, ensuring safe and effective practice.
- Interpret clinical information and escalate or act on deterioration, using professional judgement within scope of practice
- Delegate care appropriately to Nursing Associates and care staff, ensuring safe oversight and supervision
- Ensure all care is delivered in line with policies, SOPs and best practice, challenging and improving practice where required
- Develop, review and contribute to advance care plans in partnership with families and the multidisciplinary team.
- Lead aspects of care delivery within a shift, contributing to the safe running of the clinical area
- Deliver and oversee care after death, ensuring dignity, respect and family support
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records and ensure high standards of documentation across the team

- Supervise, support and develop Nursing Associates, students and Early career employees, ensuring safe delegation and competence
- Contribute to shift coordination, escalating concerns relating to staffing, acuity or safety

- Support the development and competency assessment of Nursing Associates and new staff

- Take responsibility for ensuring care is delivered safely and in line with SOPs and evidence-based standards
- Identify, report and lead learning from incidents, complaints and near misses.
- Contribute to audit, quality improvement and service development, using findings to enhance care
- Challenge poor practice and actively promote a culture of safety, openness and continuous improvement
- Actively participate in clinical supervision and appraisals.
- Fulfil the requirements for NMC Revalidation by actively engaging in professional development and staying current with all advancements in clinical practice
