Dubai British School Emirates Hills is recruiting an Outstanding  STEAM Teacher for Secondary. Ideally we prefer  someone who could start in Aug 2026 to avoid mid year transition. We are open to the possibility of a Jan 2027 start for the right candidate.

DBS Emirates Hills Curriculum 

Our curriculum is modelled on the National Curriculum for England and adapted to our own international context, leading to a challenging set of GCSE, BTEC and GCE A Level courses from Year 10 to Year 13. We feel the opportunities that students enjoy outside the classroom are just as important as the main curriculum and we offer an extensive and varied Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) programme.

• Teacher of STEAM (Secondary)

  Purpose of the Role

  The Teacher of STEAM will deliver an engaging and innovative STEAM curriculum that develops students' creativity, curiosity, practical skills and problem-solving through hands-on, project-based learning.

  This role would suit an outstanding secondary teacher from a wide range of subject backgrounds. It may particularly appeal to candidates with experience in Computer Science, Design Technology, Science, Mathematics or other STEAM-related disciplines. However, we welcome applications from any teacher with a passion for practical, innovative learning and a desire to inspire curiosity, creativity and problem-solving in young people.

  The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering and continuing to develop our exciting STEAM programme, helping students apply knowledge from science, technology, engineering, design and mathematics to real-world challenges. Students design, build, test and refine solutions through collaborative projects, developing the creativity, resilience and innovation skills needed for the future.

  Key Responsibilities

  Teaching and Learning

  • Deliver high-quality STEAM lessons that engage, challenge and inspire students.

  • Create practical, project-based learning experiences that encourage creativity, collaboration and problem-solving.

  • Guide students through the design process, from research and design to prototyping, testing, evaluation and refinement, using digital technologies where appropriate.

  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, providing appropriate challenge and support.

  • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform future planning.

  • Foster an inclusive classroom culture where students are encouraged to think critically, take risks and learn from the design process.

  Curriculum Development

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the STEAM curriculum, including opportunities to further develop digital technologies and Computing over time.

  • Develop engaging interdisciplinary learning experiences that connect concepts across science, technology, engineering, design and mathematics.

  • Keep curriculum content current through educational research, industry developments and emerging technologies.

  Innovation and Enrichment

  • Lead or support STEAM clubs, enrichment activities and innovation projects.

  • Organise or contribute to competitions, showcases and challenge events.

  • Build partnerships with external organisations, universities or industry where appropriate to enrich students' learning experiences.

  Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with the STEAM Lead to deliver and further develop the school's STEAM programme.

  • Share effective practice and contribute to professional learning.

  • Support whole-school events and contribute positively to the wider life of the school.

  Learning Environment

  • Maintain a safe, organised and inspiring practical learning environment that encourages creativity, experimentation and innovation.

  • Manage equipment, digital technologies and resources effectively.

  • Ensure appropriate health and safety procedures are followed during practical activities.

  Essential

  The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  Desirable

  • Experience in, or an affinity with, subjects such as Computer Science, Design Technology, Science, Mathematics or other STEAM related disciplines.

  • Confidence in using practical and digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning.

  • An interest in, or willingness to develop, knowledge of coding basics and computational thinking.

  • Experience leading STEAM or extracurricular enrichment activities.
