Tyneside supported housing
Part-time (18.75 hours per week), days and hours worked each day can be negotiated
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our team in Newcastle as a Housing Support Worker.
As the UK’s only substance misuse charity and housing association, we have developed considerable expertise in the provision of specialist supported housing for people at all stages of their recovery journey. This vacancy presents a rare and exciting opportunity to join our Tyneside team, based close to Newcastle City Centre and delivering support to people in recovery from drug and alcohol misuse.
Join us and you’ll be part of a small, committed team working across 3 sites with a total of 20 clients managing a small case load, providing high quality and inclusive services to individuals with a range of backgrounds and experiences, including substance use, offending, and homelessness. You’ll provide one-to-one support to identify strengths and goals, and work with each individual to support them to build recovery capital and achieve their ambitions, including accessing training and education, engaging with community and peer support, and building recovery capital.
Working with the local manager, there is also a large element of supervising housing management tasks ensuring compliance with housing standards, heath and safety and also ensuring properties are maintained to high standard
While we welcome candidates with a background in housing, substance use, or similar fields this is not essential. What you will need is a genuine desire to support people to transform their lives, good interpersonal and listening skills, and a commitment to personal and professional development. A sound knowledge and understanding of the issues that can affect the people we work with is desirable.
This role is largely 9-5, but as there is part time post there flexibility around days and hours of work
There is also a requirement to participate in an on-call Rota, which has an additional payment.
A driving licence and own transport would also be desirable for travel between sites
