About the Role

Randstad Social Care is seeking an experienced Mental Health Officer to join a dedicated, supportive team in Glasgow. This position offers an exciting opportunity to exercise your statutory duties, undertake complex assessments under Scottish mental health legislation, and support individuals and their families while enjoying flexible working patterns and comprehensive travel and accommodation support.

Key Responsibilities

• Statutory MHO Duties: Exercise statutory functions under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, including emergency, short-term, and compulsory treatment orders (CTOs).
• Adults with Incapacity (AWI): Carry out statutory duties and assessments under the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000, including guardianship applications and annual reviews.
• Adult Support & Protection (ASP): Act as a Council Officer to lead complex inquiries and investigations under the Adult Support and Protection framework.
• Multidisciplinary Working: Work closely with Responsible Medical Officers (RMOs), Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs), inpatient wards, solicitors, and the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland.
• Report Writing & Representation: Prepare detailed statutory reports for court and tribunal proceedings, confidently representing the local authority and advocating for service users' rights and rights-based care.

Requirements

• Professional Registration: Active registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a Social Worker.
• Specialist Qualification: Post-Qualifying Award in Mental Health Social Work / Mental Health Officer (MHO) Certificate.
• Vetting: Valid membership in the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme for working with protected adults.
• Qualifications: Recognised Degree or Diploma in Social Work (BA Hons, DipSW, MSc).
• Experience: Proven post-qualifying experience practicing as a Mental Health Officer within a Scottish local authority or integrated health trust setting.
