Trainee Dental Nurse

Part-time, Full-time

Job purpose: Gilbertfield Dental Practice is a modern, multi-surgery NHS and Private practice located in the East End of Glasgow, perfectly situated just 5 minutes from Glasgow Fort. Established for over 32 years, our success is built on the dedication of our fantastic team. As a principal-owned practice, we offer a high-standard clinical environment with a supportive, personal, and friendly atmosphere.

We prioritize work-life balance by offering a full-time, four-day work week. This 33 -hour position includes a designated day off each week to ensure you have consistent time to recharge. We are now looking for a highly motivated Trainee Dental Nurse to join our friendly, expanding team.

This position is designed specifically for those looking to start their career in dental nursing. No prior dental experience is required—we provide full, hands-on training and mentorship from day one. You will work chairside with our dentists while working towards a Modern Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing at SCQF Level 7.

This is a fully funded, formal qualification delivered in partnership with Mentor Training Scotland, leading to professional registration with the General Dental Council (GDC)

What will I learn? * Clinical Chairside Support: Assist dentists during treatments, prepare materials, and master instrument management.

* Infection Control & Decontamination: Learn to operate sterilisation equipment and maintain strict surgery hygiene.

* Patient Care & Anxiety Management: Greet patients, provide reassurance, and manage dental anxiety effectively.

* Dental Radiography: Learn how to prepare digital X-ray equipment and follow strict radiation safety protocols.

* Digital Administration: Confidently use modern dental management software for charting and patient records.

* Professional Standards: Understand NHS/private practice compliance and General Dental Council (GDC) ethics.

What qualifications or qualities are required? * Education & Funding: Open to individuals eligible for Modern Apprenticeship funding in Scotland. Good standard of English is required.

* Communication Skills: Excellent spoken and written English to ensure clear communication with patients and the clinical team.

* GDC Commitment: Must be fully committed to studying and completing the SCQF Level 7 qualification to achieve GDC registration.

* Background Check: Must hold or be willing to obtain a valid Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) disclosure.

* IT Skills: Strong computer literacy and a willingness to learn specialist dental software.

* Teamwork & Efficiency: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment as part of a friendly, dedicated team.
