Ernest Bevin Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Teaching Assistant – Literacy to join our inclusive and ambitious school community.

About the role

You will work closely with the SENDCo, teaching staff and wider professionals to support students with literacy-related barriers to learning . Through targeted interventions and in-class support, you will help students build confidence, independence and the skills needed to thrive in school.

This is a rewarding and impactful role combining direct student support, progress tracking and collaborative working .

We are looking for someone who:

• Is passionate about supporting young people and improving literacy outcomes

• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Can work effectively with individuals and small groups of students

• Is organised, proactive and able to manage a varied workload

• Demonstrates patience, empathy and resilience

• Is committed to inclusive education and supporting students with additional needs

• Has good IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate records

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering small-group and 1:1 literacy interventions (reading, writing, spelling and comprehension)

• Supporting students in lessons where literacy is a barrier to learning

• Monitoring, recording and evaluating student progress

• Working with teaching staff and the SENDCo to plan and adapt support strategies

• Promoting reading, language development and engagement with literacy across the school

• Building positive relationships with students, helping to develop confidence and independence

• Liaising with families and external professionals to support student progress

• Maintaining accurate records and contributing to reviews and meetings
