Are you an experienced Sonographer who is looking for a new challenge near the beautiful Gower coastline? If so we would like to hear from you!

This post will be based at Morriston Hospital which is a large, acute unit in the North of Swansea. However, you may be required to work on any of the three sites within Swansea Bay Health Board.

Our service offers Sonographers the experience of a wide variety of Ultrasound scanning, including early pregnancy, obstetric, general, gynaecological, small part and vascular US.

You would be working within a dynamic, enthusiastic and hardworking team of Sonographers and alongside a team of supportive radiologists.

A structured induction program will be provided for the successful applicant. The health board is committed to the development of radiographers employed within the service.

A good work life balance is important to us at Swansea Bay UHB however, the opportunity to work additional overtime hours is a possibility.

Main duties of the job
We are looking to expand our dynamic and motivated Ultrasound team and are inviting hard working and enthusiastic Sonographers to apply for a job with us at Swansea Bay University Health Board.

The multidisciplinary ultrasound team at Swansea have an outstanding reputation for the services provided, where the Sonographer team undertakes a comprehensive range of ultrasound examinations that includes Abdominal, Gynaecological, Obstetric, Vascular, MSK, small parts, head and neck, paediatric and sonographer led acute imaging.

The post available would suit experienced hard working sonographers who are interested in developing both clinical and leadership skills. We are looking for professional individuals who are forward thinking with great patient and team working skills. All candidates must have a suitable graduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound (PgC, PgD, MSc) and have current professional registration (HCPC/NMC).

There are 3 general US rooms, all equipped with Samsung units & 2 antenatal units which are GE

Qualification
Essential
  • HCPC Registration
  • Postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound
  • BSc in Radiography
  • Supervisory and/or Management qualification.
Experience
Essential
  • Relevant Experience working in NHS
  • Has up to date CPD portfolio.
  • Experience supplemented by postgraduate course(s).
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and its application in Radiology departments
Aptitude and abilities
Essential
  • Ability to work as part of a team, possess Counselling Skills
  • Work on own initiative and unsupervised.
  • Undertake and report on a range of ultrasound scans including - obstetrics, general abdominal, vascular work.
  • Manage a clinical workload and meet deadlines
  • Deal with patients presenting with a range of conditions.
  • Communicate learned skills to all grades of staff.
  • Adapt to different work settings within the department.
  • Recognise and respond sensitively and appropriately to individual patient's needs.
Desirable
  • Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh
  • Good IT Skills
  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Physically capable of moving and positioning various types of patients and equipment.
  • Enthusiastic/Motivated.
