About the role This role is ideal for Nurses looking to move away from shift work into a more structured environment. We are recruiting registered Nurses (RGN, RMN and RNLD) to join a Functional Assessor team delivering Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Work Capability Assessment (WCA) services in Bournemouth. This is a structured, assessment-based role offering a move away from hands-on clinical care into a predictable Monday to Friday, office hours position.
The role is non-clinical and non-hands-on, focusing on assessment, communication and report writing.

- Salary: £40,000–£42,000 plus approval and performance-related bonus
- Location: Bournemouth assessment centre
- Working pattern: Monday to Friday, office hours only
- Hybrid working: A mixture of working from home and in the local office
- No nights, weekends or shift work
- Full-time and part-time opportunities available
- Right to work in the UK required (no sponsorship available)
- Full-time and part-time roles available
- Part-time options typically 3 to 4 days per week
The role
You will complete structured functional assessments within PIP or WCA services, focusing on how health conditions affect daily living or work capability. Assessments are completed via:
- Telephone
- Video consultation
- Face-to-face (non-clinical setting)
- Carry out structured functional assessments using clinical judgement
- Review medical evidence and supporting documentation
- Produce clear, objective, evidence-based written reports
- Communicate professionally and empathetically throughout
- Provide hands-on clinical care
- Prescribe or deliver treatment
- Make diagnoses
- Make benefit entitlement decisions
- Work nights, weekends or shifts
- Nurse (RGN / RMN / RNLD) – current NMC registration required
- Minimum 12 months post-registration clinical experience
- Good communication and report writing skills
- Comfortable using IT systems
- £40,000–£42,000 salary (pro rata for part-time)
- Approval bonus and performance-related bonus
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Pension contribution up to 6%
- Professional registration fees paid
- Ongoing CPD and clinical support
