Client Finance Manager - Court of Protection and Appointee Service

We are seeking an experienced Client Finance Team Manager to lead our Court of Protection and Appointeeship Service. You will manage a team that supports vulnerable adults who are unable to manage their own financial affairs. The team ensures that finances and financial decisions are handled safely, fairly, and in each person's best interests. This is a leadership role. You will provide clear direction, support staff development, and ensure the service runs effectively, compliantly, and to a high standard. You will work closely with Adult Social Care, families, and partner organisations to deliver a coordinated, person-centred service that protects people's interests while supporting their wellbeing and independence wherever possible. Key Responsibilities Manage and develop a specialist team of Court of Protection and Appointeeship caseworkersOversee client finances, including budgeting, payments, and safeguarding assets
Ensure full compliance with the Mental Capacity Act (2005), Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) Deputy standards, and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) requirements
Advise on complex financial and legal matters, working closely with Adult Social Care, partners, and external organisations
Support safeguarding activity and manage financial risk
Champion service improvement and efficiency, fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture What we’re looking for Experience leading or managing teams in a busy service environment
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage workloads and team performance effectively
Experience handling complex and sensitive situations, ideally within finance, adult social care, or a similar setting
A good understanding of safeguarding practices
The ability to build strong working relationships and communicate clearly with a range of people and organisations
A commitment to continuous improvement and a collaborative approach to driving service innovation About the service The Court of Protection and Appointeeship Service supports individuals who have been formally assessed as lacking the mental capacity to manage their own financial affairs, and who have no suitable family member or friend able to act on their behalf. In these circumstances, Lincolnshire County Council can apply to the Court of Protection to become the person's deputy, taking on responsibility for managing their finances and, where required, obtaining the legal authority to manage more complex property and financial matters. Alternatively, the council can be appointed by the Department for Work and Pensions to act as their appointee, managing income, benefits, and day-to-day financial arrangements. In all cases, the service acts to safeguard the person's financial wellbeing, making decisions and managing their affairs in their best interests, in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
