Job Title: Consortium Project Manager - B-Zero
Reports to: Claire Pitcher
Closing Date: 27/Jul/2026 23.59 GMT Consortium Project Manager: Accelerating progress towards HBV elimination in Africa
Contract term: This is a full-time, fixed term (5 years) position on Crick terms and conditions of employment.
Reports to: Consortium Lead, Prof Philippa Matthews, and the Crick Head of Programme Management Office, Claire Pitcher
Salary for this Role: From £56,000 with benefits, subject to skills and experience About us
The Francis Crick Institute is Europe’s largest biomedical research institute under one roof. Our world-class scientists and staff collaborate on vital research to help prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative conditions. The Crick is a place for collaboration, innovation and exploration across many disciplines. A space where the brightest minds can pursue big and bold ideas and discover answers to crucial scientific questions. We support them in a dynamic environment which fosters excellence with state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting-edge facilities, and a creative and curious culture. We’ve removed traditional boundaries of departments, divisions and disciplines and instead have an open approach that supports every researcher. This gives us the freedom to take risks and carry out high-quality, pioneering research. Creating a space for discovery without boundaries helps us to turn our science into benefits for human health and the economy. About the Programme
B-ZERO is an ambitious international programme focused on tackling one of the biggest barriers to eliminating Hepatitis B virus (HBV) in Africa. Despite expanded treatment access, many patients do not achieve long-term viral suppression, and the reasons remain poorly understood. Bringing together researchers, clinicians and partners across Africa, Europe and beyond, B-ZERO combines large-scale registry analysis, laboratory research and transmission modelling to better understand treatment failure, drug resistance and the future impact of HBV treatment strategies. The programme aims to deliver evidence that will directly inform global HBV policy and improve outcomes for millions of people living with chronic infection. About the role
We are seeking a Consortium Programme Manager to support this major international research programme. Based at the Crick in London, you will work closely with collaborators across multiple countries, coordinating a multidisciplinary network of scientific, clinical and operational partners. Working alongside the programme lead and study site teams, you will play a central role in ensuring effective communication, programme delivery and stakeholder coordination across the consortium. You will oversee project timelines, reporting, governance and risk management, while working closely with internal teams including Finance, Grants, HR and Legal. This role would suit someone with experience managing complex scientific grants or programmes with international reach, ideally within academia, healthcare, research or non-profit environments.
