We are looking for a motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly and supportive SEND team at Steyning Grammar School.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people, supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to access the national curriculum, participate in wider school life and achieve their full potential.

Working primarily on one of our Key Stage 3 sites, you will support the SENDCo and Assistant SENDCo in the day-to-day management of the SEND provision. You will also play a key role in leading and coordinating our team of Learning Support Mentors to ensure students receive effective, consistent and high-quality support in the classroom.

The role will involve:

• Supporting the SENDCo and Assistant SENDCo with the day-to-day running of the SEND team.

• Leading and coordinating Learning Support Mentors to ensure effective support for students across the curriculum.

• Providing guidance and direction to the team, responding confidently and proactively to the changing needs of students throughout the school day.

• Working collaboratively with teachers and colleagues to promote inclusion and ensure students can access learning and wider school opportunities.

• Supporting students with a range of additional and complex needs, helping them to develop confidence, independence and achieve their full potential.

Do you have?

• A flexible attitude to react to different situations throughout the school day and the ability to use your own initiative within the learning environment.

• Experience of working calmly under pressure

• The ability to communicate effectively with anyone, especially young people, and work effectively both on your own and within a team

• Maths and English GCSE Grade 4 or above (or equivalent).
