Summary
- The Pensions Manager (Finance) is a pivotal role within the Pension Team, tasked with providing professional leadership in the financial management of the Surrey Pension Fund. This position is crucial for ensuring robust financial governance, compliance, and service delivery. The postholder will operate with a high degree of autonomy, leading a small finance team and overseeing both operational and project-based activities. This role is a 3-month contract with a local authority (TBC).
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of the Surrey Pension Team Finance Strategy.
- Oversee the preparation of the annual Pension Fund Accounts and Annual Report.
- Ensure robust financial controls, governance arrangements, and compliance with statutory regulations.
- Monitor and analyse both the Surrey Pension Team operating budget and the Pension Fund budget.
- Manage pension fund cashflow forecasting and financial planning activities.
- Produce detailed financial reports, analysis, and recommendations to support decision-making.
Requirements:
- Essential Experience Required
- Significant experience in financial management within a complex organisation.
- Experience preparing annual accounts and financial statements.
- Experience managing and developing teams.

- Essential Qualifications Required
- Degree qualified or significant equivalent professional experience.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent professional accountancy qualification).
