Job description
Upon completion of a twelve week training programme you will have the technical skills to carry out many roles on the production floor. You will play a key leadership role within the production team, overseeing the safe and efficient operation of an allocated production area. You will lead, motivate, and develop a team of up to 14 operatives and deliver high quality food products in line with production plans and specifications. You will be responsible for achieving production, labour, and performance targets.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the day-to-day operation of the allocated production area, ensuring products are manufactured safely, on time, in full, and to the required quality, food safety, and customer specifications.
- Lead, motivate, coach, and develop production operatives, completing inductions, competency assessments, performance reviews, and identifying training needs to build a high-performing team.
- Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), food safety, health and safety, hygiene, allergen management, contamination controls, and site security requirements.
- Oversee the operation, set-up, calibration, and verification of production equipment and critical control systems.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Essential Skills Qualification or minimum 3 GCSEs at pass rate. OR be willing and able to complete Essential Skills Qualifications as part of your training programme.
- Good understanding of food processing or manufacturing.
- Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate ability to lead a team.
- Demonstrate organisational planning and time management abilities
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
- Readiness to learn and successfully complete the training programme.
- Competent reading and writing English language
Desirable Skills
- Experience working within food manufacturing at a management level.
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice. (GMP)
- Experience of management and control of short shelf-life foods.
- Experience gained in the use of MS Office - Word & Excel
