Behaviour Change Practitioner

Help adults and young people achieve lasting behavioural change through evidence-based interventions. This rewarding hybrid role combines case management, safeguarding, CBT-informed practice and multi-agency working to improve outcomes and public safety.

SALARY: £30,240 per annum (pro rata) + Benefits

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Fixed Term Contract to 13th January 2027 (possible extension)

LOCATION: Hybrid working with both site-based and remote work covering the Surrey Region

WORKING HOURS: 37 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday, including one evening session

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Behaviour Change Practitioner.

As a Behaviour Change Practitioner you will assess, engage and support adults and young people to recognise harmful behaviours and develop safer alternatives using CBT and DBT-informed approaches.

The Behaviour Change Practitioner will deliver one-to-one and group interventions, work alongside police, probation and safeguarding partners, and contribute to positive behavioural change while maintaining professional boundaries.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Behaviour Change Practitioner include:

  • Assessment and Planning: Complete assessments, inductions and personalised intervention plans
  • Intervention Delivery: Deliver CBT and DBT-informed one-to-one and group programmes
  • Behaviour Change: Support participants to recognise and change harmful behaviours
  • Case Management: Maintain accurate case records, reports and documentation
  • Multi-agency Working: Work collaboratively with police, probation, prisons and safeguarding partners
  • Risk Management: Contribute to MASH, MAPPA and other risk management processes where required
  • Professional Practice: Participate in clinical and management supervision and reflective practice
  • Professional Boundaries: Safely manage challenging or resistant behaviour while maintaining accountability

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Previous experience working within safeguarding or risk management frameworks
  • Experience managing competing priorities and maintaining an organised workload
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to establish rapport while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Good administration, record-keeping and digital communication skills
  • Experience providing support both face-to-face and remotely

Desirable

  • Counselling, Psychology, Probation or a related qualification
  • Understanding or experience of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
  • Experience contributing to MASH, MAPPA or similar meetings
  • Experience delivering interventions within criminal justice, social care or domestic abuse services
  • Understanding of the psychological and social factors associated with harmful behaviours
