Location: Laindon, Essex

Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 per annum, depending on experience

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:30pm + alternate Saturdays, 8:00am–1:00pm

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician to join our busy multi-brand workshop in Laindon, Essex.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician who is confident working across a wide range of cars and light commercial vehicles and who takes pride in producing high-quality work.

We are a multi-brand workshop, so the successful candidate needs to be comfortable diagnosing, servicing and repairing vehicles from different manufacturers.

We are looking for someone who can work independently, manage their own workload and take the lead when required, while also being a reliable and positive member of the workshop team.

The Role

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out vehicle inspections and health checks.
• Servicing cars and light commercial vehicles.
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Carrying out repairs and maintenance to a high standard.
• Using diagnostic equipment to identify faults accurately.
• Identifying additional work and reporting findings clearly.
• Carrying out repairs across multiple vehicle manufacturers.
• Working efficiently to meet agreed timescales and targets.
• Completing work correctly and safely first time wherever possible.
• Carrying out road tests when required.
• Maintaining accurate job cards and reporting any additional work required.
• Working independently and taking ownership of jobs from start to finish.
• Supporting other technicians and workshop colleagues when required.
• Keeping your work area clean, safe and organised.
• Following company procedures and health & safety requirements.
• Taking responsibility for the quality of your own workmanship.

About You

We are looking for a technician who is experienced, reliable, self-motivated and technically capable.

You should be comfortable working on a variety of makes and models and have the confidence to diagnose faults rather than simply replacing parts.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently when required but will also understand the importance of being part of a team.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician / Motor Vehicle Technician.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and practical experience.
• Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Experience servicing and repairing cars.
• Experience working on light commercial vehicles.
• Comfortable working across multiple vehicle manufacturers.
• Able to work independently and manage your own workload.
• Able to take the lead on jobs and assist colleagues when required.
• Good attention to detail.
• Good communication skills.
• Reliable and punctual.
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• OWN TOOLS ARE AN ABSOLUTE MUST.
• Candidates must have a good and comprehensive quantity of their own professional tools suitable for carrying out vehicle servicing, repair and diagnostic work.
• Full UK driving licence.

Own Tools – Important

Please note: having your own tools is a strict requirement for this position.

We are looking for a technician who has invested in and maintains their own professional tool kit to a good standard and with sufficient range and quantity for the role.

You will be expected to work to a high standard while maintaining productivity and meeting agreed targets.
