DT (Food) ECT - Community-Focused School in Swindon -...
A welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Swindon is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic D&T Food ECT to join its successful Design & Technology department this September. This is an excellent opportunity to teach in an environment where practical skills, nutrition, and creativity are highly valued.
As an ECT, you will benefit from a structured induction period, including access to modern, well-equipped food technology rooms and mentoring from an experienced Subject Lead.
The Role
Teaching Food Preparation and Nutrition across KS3 and KS4.
Planning and delivering engaging practical lessons that focus on culinary skills, hygiene, and nutrition.
Supporting pupils with their NEA (Non-Exam Assessment) and theoretical examination preparation.
Promoting high standards of kitchen safety and food hygiene in accordance with school policy.
Encouraging creativity and independence in practical sessions while fostering an understanding of food provenance.
Managing equipment and ingredients effectively to ensure a productive learning environment.
Participating in the statutory ECT induction and collaborative departmental planning.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Currently working towards or recently completed Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
A degree in Food Technology, Hospitality, Nutrition, or a related discipline.
Strong practical skills and the confidence to manage a practical classroom safely.
High expectations for pupil engagement, behaviour, and the quality of practical outcomes.
Excellent organisational skills and a high level of energy for the busy school day.
A professional, positive, and proactive approach to departmental teamwork.
