Job description

Mourneside Family Practice is seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our busy and supportive team. As the first point of contact for patients, you will play an important role in delivering an efficient, professional and compassionate service.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming patients and visitors in a professional manner. Answering telephone enquiries and responding appropriately.
• Booking, cancelling, and amending appointments by telephone and in person. Updating and maintaining patient medical records.
• Processing incoming and outgoing mail. Maintaining strict patient confidentiality. Working with computerised systems including EMIS.
• Taking and accurately relaying messages. Liaising with local pharmacies and other healthcare professionals. Communicating test results to patients in line with practice procedures.
• Providing general administrative support. Please note that duties may vary throughout the working day in line with the operational needs of the practice.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• 4 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths. Competent in IT systems.
• 1 years’ experience in a customer facing or administrative role.
• Can work effectively as part of a team and on own initiative. Excellent organisational skills.

Desirable Skills

• Previous experience in a healthcare setting. Experience of primary care clinical systems.
