Following the well-deserved appointment of our current Head Teacher to a new role as a Local Leader of Primary Education, the Governing Board is delighted to seek an exceptional, forward-thinking leader to carry our Church of England school forward.

Rooted in our Christian vision, "Love each other as I (Jesus) have loved you", St George's is a caring, nurturing and ambitious school where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish. Our values- kindness, responsibility, friendship, honesty, perseverance, respect, happiness and forgiveness- shape all that we do and guide the way we learn, work and grow together.

This is a wonderful opportunity for an inspirational and strategic leader who is committed to placing children at the heart of every decision through Christian values, ensuring they thrive academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

About Our School

St George’s Church of England Primary School and Nursery is an oversubscribed, larger‑than‑average, thriving and inclusive Christian school, currently educating around 570 children. Although officially a 2.5‑form‑entry school, we operate as a three‑form‑entry, enabling us to offer a broad, rich curriculum and strong pastoral care across all year groups.

We are incredibly proud of the high standards our children achieve. Outcomes for disadvantaged pupils place us in the top 25% nationally, reflecting our determination to ensure that every child- no matter their background- has the opportunity to excel. Our dedicated staff team work tirelessly to provide high‑quality teaching that inspires ambition, curiosity and confidence in every learner.

Collaboration is central to our success. We work closely with local schools, Lichfield Diocese, Telford & Wrekin Local Authority, and a wide range of external partners. These strong relationships enrich our practice, broaden opportunities for our pupils and staff, and ensure St George’s remains a successful, outward‑looking school rooted in community and faith.

About the Role

As our next Head Teacher, you will lead a committed and talented team of professionals and work closely with an engaged Governing Board to maintain and further strengthen the school’s culture of high expectations and joyful learning. You will have the opportunity to build on our strong foundations while shaping an ambitious vision for the school’s future.

We are looking for a leader who is:

  • An experienced and strategic senior leader across all key stages from early years through to key stage 2

  • A role model for our Christian ethos and committed to upholding our vision and values

  • Dedicated to ensuring every child achieves their very best

  • Skilled in improving teaching, learning and pupil outcomes at the highest level

  • Committed to inclusion and meeting the needs of all learners with care and aspiration

  • Able to inspire, support and develop staff at every career stage

  • Strategic in thinking and confident in managing the operational demands of a busy school

  • Effective in building warm, collaborative relationships with pupils, families, staff, governors and the wider community

  • Passionate about sustaining a school culture grounded in love, integrity and joy

We Can Offer You:

  • Caring, happy, enthusiastic and polite children who love to learn

  • A skilled, dedicated and hardworking staff team

  • A supportive, skilled, committed and ambitious Governing Board

  • Strong community links and excellent parental engagement

  • A joyful, values‑driven environment where relationships matter and flourish

  • Opportunities for ongoing professional development and leadership growth

  • A school where your leadership can make a lasting and meaningful difference

If you are a compassionate, resilient and visionary leader who shares our belief that every child is valued and capable of success, we would be delighted to hear from you. This is an exciting opportunity to guide St George’s Church of England Primary School and Nursery into its next chapter with love, hope and purpose.

Visits to the school are strongly advised and very much welcomed. Please contact us by email:  View email address on tes.com  or telephone View phone number on tes.com
