Specialist Learning Support Assistant - SEN School

£14.5 per hour
Full-time

Our client, a highly respected Special Educational Needs (SEN) school located in the picturesque town of St Austell, Cornwall, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Specialist Learning Support Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time position with a salary of £14.50 per hour, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.

As a Specialist Learning Support Assistant, you will be an integral part of our client's dynamic and supportive educational environment. Your primary responsibility will be to provide individualised assistance and care to students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the personalised attention and resources they require to thrive. This may involve working one-on-one or in small groups, supporting students with a wide range of cognitive, physical, and emotional challenges.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to, helping students with their daily activities, such as personal care, mobility, and organisational skills. You will also assist with the implementation of specialised teaching strategies and behaviour management techniques, as outlined in each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP). Collaborating closely with the teaching staff, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning atmosphere that empowers our students to reach their full potential.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential in this role, as you will be interacting with students, parents, and the wider school community on a regular basis. You should be patient, adaptable, and possess a genuine passion for supporting individuals with special educational needs. Prior experience in a similar setting is highly desirable, although comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you are well-equipped to excel in this rewarding position.

Our client values the diverse perspectives and unique talents that each team member brings to the table. As a Specialist Learning Support Assistant, you will have the opportunity to contribute your ideas, participate in ongoing professional development, and be part of a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive work environment. The school's commitment to fostering a positive and enriching atmosphere for both staff and students is evident in the strong sense of community and the emphasis on teamwork.

If you are excited by the prospect of making a tangible difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs, and you possess the skills and qualities we are seeking, we encourage you to apply for this full-time Specialist Learning Support Assistant role. Join our client's dedicated team and be a part of shaping the futures of the students in our care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualised support and assistance to students with special educational needs
  • Help students with daily activities, such as personal care, mobility, and organisational skills
  • Implement specialised teaching strategies and behaviour management techniques as outlined in each student's IEP
