We're looking for an experienced and solutions-focused Technical Manager to join a leading passive fire protection specialist.
This is a key role providing technical leadership and support across passive fire projects, from tender through to completion. You'll work closely with Pre-Construction, Commercial and Operations teams to ensure solutions are compliant, practical, commercially viable and aligned with current regulations and industry standards .
You'll help manage technical risk, maintain quality, resolve complex issues and strengthen technical capability across the business.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical support across Pre-Construction, Commercial and Operations.
- Review drawings, specifications, fire strategies and technical documentation.
- Ensure passive fire systems are compliant, buildable and commercially appropriate.
- Review technical submissions, compliance records and supporting evidence.
- Identify and manage technical, compliance and design risks.
- Work with manufacturers, suppliers and specialist subcontractors on technical requirements and approvals.
- Support audits, inspections, quality reviews and project close-out.
- Resolve technical queries, RFIs, non-conformances and site challenges.
- Attend client meetings, design workshops and site visits.
- Maintain robust technical records in line with the Building Safety Act and Golden Thread requirements.
- Support and mentor junior technical staff.
- Drive continuous improvement and technical best practice.
What You'll Need
- Strong experience within passive fire protection or a related technical construction discipline.
- Solid knowledge of passive fire systems, installation methods and manufacturer requirements.
- Understanding of FIRAS, Building Regulations, Building Safety Act and relevant industry standards.
- Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, fire strategies and technical submissions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of project risk and buildability.
- Experience working with clients, consultants, manufacturers, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Good knowledge of technical software, document control and drawing review processes.
- IFE Level 3 Certificate in Passive Fire Protection , or willingness to work towards it.
- Full UK driving licence.
