Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- As an Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Apprentice you will gain practical experience across a wide range of engineering activities, supporting the design and development of Electrical, Control and Instrumentation systems used within complex industrial environments.
- You will get involved in producing electrical drawings and schematics, selecting equipment and instrumentation, developing PLC/DCS control systems, working with industrial networks, preparing technical specifications and calculations, and supporting system testing and commissioning.
- Alongside experienced engineers, you’ll learn how engineering designs are developed safely and systematically, gaining exposure to areas such as control panels, motors and drives, sensors and instrumentation, functional safety, cybersecurity and engineering standards.
- The role is primarily office-based design work, supported by practical engineering experience, providing a strong foundation for a career as a professional EC&I engineer.
- No two projects are the same, giving you the opportunity to think creatively, solve complex challenges, and develop practical engineering solutions that make a real impact.
Where you'll work
