Transport Planner - Area Travel Planning and Development

£38.22k - £41.77k per annum
Temporary

The post holder will be the lead for Travel plan activity across the Council, supporting schools, developers and businesses in travel plan surveys, the initial development and promotion of behavioural change projects, marketing and information provision. Informing infrastructure programmes that support new and existing users of walking, cycling and wheeling facilities as well as sustainable travel options. The role will include leadership of the Council’s road safety education and travelling planning activity, and extensive engagement with key local, regional and national stakeholders including Active Travel England. The post holder will need to work closely with officers from other teams such as planning and education. The postholder will be expected to monitor and evaluate the success of the Council’s travel plan activity and manage a small budget for planned activities

Cheshire West and Chester is looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to join the Transport and Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will join the Council at an exciting time, making a meaningful contribution to the necessary change required to fulfil, contribute and realise the aims of our Local Transport Plan revision, forthcoming Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan renewal and Bus Service Improvement Plan delivery.

We are looking for a highly organised, proactive and enthusiastic travel plan lead. You will develop and support the delivery of a programme of smarter choices and travel planning activities and initiatives with businesses and schools.

You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience of working in a transport or sustainability related environment. Understanding the critical role that transport can play  in underpinning accessibility, sustainability, health and wellbeing for our residents, businesses and visitors.  You must be computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, self-motivated with a flexible approach to work, able to represent the service/council to a variety of internal and external audiences. You will be required to work collaboratively across departments ensuring high standards of service are provided.
