SEND Specialist Tutor

Our client, an established education provider in Loughborough, Leicestershire, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Specialist Tutor to join their team. This is a full-time position, offering a competitive salary of £35,000 to £49,000 per annum, depending on your qualifications and experience.

As a SEND Specialist Tutor, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the tailored support and guidance they require to reach their full potential. Your expertise in identifying and addressing the specific educational and developmental requirements of each student will be instrumental in fostering their academic and personal growth.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and delivering individualised learning programmes, utilising a range of evidence-based teaching strategies and assistive technologies. You will work closely with our client's multidisciplinary team, including educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists, to develop and implement holistic support plans that address the unique needs of each student.

Your primary duties will involve:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments to determine each student's learning profile, strengths, and areas for development
- Collaborating with parents, carers, and other professionals to understand the student's needs and develop personalised learning plans
- Delivering one-to-one and small group lessons that cater to the specific learning styles and preferences of students with SEND
- Incorporating a variety of teaching techniques, such as multi-sensory approaches, visual aids, and assistive technology, to engage and motivate students
- Monitoring and evaluating student progress, adjusting instructional methods and support strategies as needed
- Maintaining detailed records and providing regular progress reports to parents, carers, and the multidisciplinary team
- Participating in professional development opportunities to stay informed of the latest research, best practices, and legislative changes in the SEND field

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A relevant degree, such as Special Educational Needs, Education, or a related field
- A recognised teaching qualification, such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or a Master's degree in Special Educational Needs
- Significant experience (at least 3 years) working as a SEND Specialist Tutor or in a similar role, supporting students with a wide range of learning needs
- In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, carers, and professionals
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively
- A passion for making a positive difference in the lives of students with special educational needs and disabilities
