Join our Science and Operations Team as an Apprentice Engineering Technician and develop practical engineering skills in a cutting-edge laboratory. You'll maintain, repair and improve specialist equipment while working alongside experienced scientists, with excellent training and long-term career progression.

Starting salary is £16,000. Annual cost of living pay rises are awarded after 6 months' service. After one year, you'll be eligible for company share options. Regular salary reviews offer further pay increases based on performance.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Carry out routine maintenance, servicing and repair of specialist laboratory equipment and Supercritical Fluid (SCF) systems.
- Assist with fault-finding, troubleshooting and calibration of laboratory instruments.
- Support the design, development and testing of new engineering components and equipment improvements.
- Set up, operate and monitor laboratory experiments under the guidance of experienced scientists.
- Use workshop tools and engineering techniques to manufacture, modify and assemble components.
- Keep accurate maintenance records, equipment logs and technical documentation.
- Work closely with the Science and Operations Team on engineering and process improvement projects.
- Follow laboratory health and safety procedures and maintain a safe, organised working environment.
- Learn from experienced engineers and scientists while developing practical engineering and technical skills.

Training schedule
Training will primarily take place in the workplace, where you will receive hands-on experience and mentoring from experienced engineers, process scientists and the Science & Operations Team. You will also complete off-the-job training with Train'dUp (our training provider), combining practical learning with technical knowledge to achieve your Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard. Regular reviews, one-to-one mentoring and structured training will support your development throughout the programme.

You will complete the Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician (Dual Discipline – Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance) Apprenticeship Standard with Traind'up. Training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning, regular reviews, one-to-one support, and off-the-job training. You'll receive dedicated guidance from both your workplace mentor and your Traind'up tutor throughout the programme to help you achieve your qualification.
