Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

£27.87k per annum
Full-time

The Role: What you will do?

Would you like:

To work for an award-winning specialist healthcare company that is dedicated on improving and delivering services rather than delivering the same for less?

Outstanding personal development and CPD opportunities?

Flexibility that enables you to balance your work life and personal commitments?

If you answered yes to the above Vita Health Group is your perfect next employer!

The Role:

We have several opportunities to recruit enthusiastic and committed Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (Trainee PWPs) to join our Talking Therapies (TT) service operating across Leicester City, Leicestershire & Rutland.

In this role, you will provide Low Intensity interventions whilst undertaking the Post Graduate Certificate delivered face to face by De Montfort University in September 2026. This training post will equip you to provide Step 2 Guided Self-Help Low Intensity Interventions to clients with a range of common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression in primary care, for which CBT interventions are demonstrated to be clinically effective.

You will be joining a motivated workforce and will be supported in the completion of both your academic study and clinical delivery by skilled and experienced supervisors.

This is a fixed term role for 12 months.

After completing the training and becoming a qualified PWP, there may be an opportunity to apply for a permanent PWP post and contribute to an experienced and innovative service.

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Undergraduate degree or evidence of previous successful study at Regulated Qualifications Framework Level 5 minimum.
  • If you have a level 6 qualification, we require evidence of at least one year's experience of working with people who have suffered with a mental health problem. For those with a level 5 qualification, we require two years of experience of working with people who have suffered a mental health problem.
  • Evidence of ability to study successfully at undergraduate year 2 level or the equivalent.
  • Flexible and able to provide out of hours clinics as required by service needs.
  • Willingness to travel
  • An awareness of and commitment to supporting and facilitating diversity and inclusion

Desirable:

  • Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, art therapy or within a psychological therapy, psychology or other health related undergraduate / post graduate degree.

Interview Process:

  • Shortlisted applicants must be available to attend interviews held between 23rd June – 26th June . All interviews will be held face to face at our Bank Court office (LE11 5TE).
  • The interview will be 1 hour and consist of a 10 minute role play and interview questions. This will be held jointly with De Montfort University.
  • Interview panels will consist of a Vita Health Group Operational Team Manager, a Vita Health Group Clinical Supervisor/ Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, and a representative from De Montfort University.
  • Candidates invited to interview will be given 3 tasks to complete prior to interview

Other Requirements:

Applicants must submit a personal statement as part of their application, outlining the reasons for applying and summarising their relevant experience.

Please note:

  • Applicants must be available to commence the role in September 2026. All essential equipment will be provided.
  • A Disclosure and Barring check (DBS, formerly CRB) will be required by the service for appointment to post.
  • Applicants who have completed an NHS-funded psychological professions training programme within the last two years are not eligible to apply. Please also be advised that if you are successful in the role, you would be unable to complete another NHSE funded course within 2 years of completing the certificate in Low-Intensity Psychological Interventions (for example, CBT training).
  • Only those with the right to work in the UK without restriction and eligible for Home Fee status can be recruited. These rules are set by the UK government and cannot be changed by individual universities or the NHS. All candidates who hold a visa should ensure that their visa permits the right to work and study in the UK.
  • If you are successful in being offered a role and you decide to terminate your employment during or at the end of your course, training fees may need to be repaid.
  • Full-time and part-time options are available. Part time consists of 0.6 or 0.8 FTE.”
  • Please note we will also be advertising for this course in our Derbyshire service area.
