Playgroup Assistant

Job description
To assist the Playgroup Leader in providing safe, high quality education and care for children aged between 3 years and 4 years olds.
Responsibilities
- Help ensure that the playroom is appropriately laid out before the session commences and is tidied up after the session ends.
- Ensure good standards of hygiene are followed and that equipment is safe and regularly checked as recommended in DHSSPS guidelines.
- Carry out regular observations and records as a key worker.
- Assist in the planning and preparation of activities offered throughout the session.
- Listen to, encourage, enable, stimulate and ensure the safe keeping of the children.
- Support the leader in ensuring that there is a safe, caring and welcoming environment for children and their families.
- Keep strictly confidential any personal information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is learnt as part of the job.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Level 3 qualification in CCLD or equivalent.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in an Early Years setting.
