The Halcyon Centre is a day service for adults and older people many of whom are living with Dementia. We take an outcome focused, strength-based approach to care, supporting people to achieve their full potential in a friendly, professional, and safe environment.

We aim to empower those accessing the service to reach their full potential to reduce or delay the need for additional care services and to support them to remain living in their own homes for as long as possible.

About the role 

As a Care Assistant you will support people with personal care, emotional wellbeing, food and nutrition and will plan and present meaningful, person-centred activities built around what people who attend the service find engaging, stimulating and beneficial to their mental and/or physical health and wellbeing.

If you wish to apply for the permanent 30 hour Care Assistant post, you will work a set shift pattern of Monday to Friday 8:30am – 3:00pm. The actual salary for the role is £21,408 - £21,749.

If you wish to apply for the casual Care Assistant post, you may be required to work flexibly within core service hours of  Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm. The salary for the casual role is £15.33 - £15.58 per hour. 

What you’ll do:

• Support individuals with personal care and daily living tasks
• Plan and deliver engaging therapeutic activities
• Act as a key worker for allocated service users
• Maintain accurate records and support care planning
• Work in partnership with families, carers and professionals.

What we’re looking for:

• Experience supporting vulnerable adults or older people
• Understanding of person-centred care
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Level 2 Diploma / NVQ in Adult Health and Social Care gained in a workplace setting
• A caring, enthusiastic and proactive approach.
