Tractor Mechanic Apprentice

£16.64k per annum

Summary

As a Tractor Mechanic Apprentice, you will work with experienced mechanics, learning to inspect, service, maintain and repair tractors and agricultural machinery. You will gain hands-on experience while studying for a recognised apprenticeship. Ideal for someone interested in agriculture, engineering, practical work and technical skills.

£16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Working within an existing team of mechanics in our purpose built workshop. You will be required to ensure machinery is safe and fit for purpose by carrying out routine checks and the required repairs as needed.

  • Assist with servicing, maintenance and repairs of tractors and agricultural machinery.
  • Learn to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults.
  • Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Prepare machinery for seasonal operations.
  • Use workshop tools and diagnostic equipment safely and correctly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.
  • Attend college or apprenticeship training as required.
  • Complete apprenticeship coursework and assessments.
  • Follow all company health and safety procedures.
  • Routine maintenance checks.
  • Maintenance as required following checks.
  • Safe working procedures. 
  • Learning new skills & knowledge.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 and above)
  • Maths (grade 4 and above)
